We spend a lot of time in the car… a lot of time… and so I needed to figure out a way to keep Apollo secure but also keep my car from being destroyed. The solution ended up not being rocket science, but there are lots of options out there! I like this option because there is the mesh section so you can still see your pup, but also, my car has air vents in this area so I’m happy to be able to send some cool air Apollo’s way! This cover is easy to wipe clean, although it is a little tricky to vacuum at the car wash. All things considered, it doesn’t cost a fortune like some of the other options out there and it keeps Apollo in the back where he is safe.

I think sometime in the near future I may splurge and go for this option though. It has a seat extender so the surface that the dog sits on is sturdy even if they are not on the seat anymore. This is useful for aging pups, like Apollo.

For seriously safety conscious pet parents I suggest the crash tested SleepyPod harness. This vest is designed for use in the rear seat can absorb energy and disperse damaging forces in a crash.

I can honestly say though, if I had a little guy, you know he’d be riding in style in one of these. Because who doesn’t love the idea of a little dog in a booster seat so his little tiny head can peep out the window!

Travel doesn’t just mean car rides though. Maybe you show your dog, and need to give them their own space to just rest and recuperate in between performances. Here’s an excellent crate option with lots of positive reviews, along with a few size and color options.

Foldable Travel Crate

Here’s one not to forget; don’t forget the dog dishes! These are great and I have a few myself. They are Silicone, collapsible and my favorite part – BPA free! They come in two different sizes and tons of fun colors.

When I started traveling more with my dogs, I realized that I should really keep a first aid kit in the car with me. It just makes sense. You have a firsts aid kit in your house, you keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen right? Why not have a first aid kit in your car – and one that you can use with pets as well. This is the one that I have and I can thankfully say I have not had to use it, but I am reassured that I have it! The last thing you want in an emergency is to have have the supplies you need to get you home or to the emergency hospital.
