I’m happy you made it! I have been a dog lover my entire life. The pure joy and love they bring us is unmatched elsewhere in life. Because of this though, I always try to do right by my dogs. Their all too short lives inevitably and very painfully come to a close and sometimes I have been left thinking wow, if I had done X,Y,Z earlier, maybe they would have lived longer. Or, maybe I have some regrets of not maximizing the dogs life by exploring with them and finding their interests and making time for them to be able to do that activity. Or maybe I realized that this human world that our canine besties are living in sure can be confusing and I’m going to try to make sure to set better guidelines to help them understand that they don’t have to be stressed in new scenarios. Whatever the case may be, I kept on ending up with one thought; “If only I knew then what I know now”. So that got me thinking, surely with more and more people considering their pets a member of their family, that I can’t be the only one who comes to this conclusion.
With Let’s Talk About Dogs, I want to bring together information and concepts that promote a healthy lifestyle and healthy relationship with dog owners and their furry companions. I want to point people in the right direction to certified trainers who use Force Free training methods, I want to share resources, like books on dog training, or books that talk about dog body language (for example) so that we can become more connected with what our pets are naturally telling us. I want to share training aids or tools that have been found helpful across different breeds and situations. I want to raise awareness that not every dog wants to socialize and THAT’S OKAY!
